MATECZNIK to „trudno dostępne miejsce w puszczy, gdzie są legowiska zwierzyny”.(cyt. za Słownik języka polskiego, pod red. W. Doroszewskiego, Warszawa 1958-1969.)
It’s a little known fact that near Duszniki Wielkopolskie (around 30 km West of Poznań) there is a place where the first Polish Prince Mieszko I went walking. This medieval estate was called Sędzinko–Zalesie (one of four discovered from that period) and it dates back to the feudal era between the 8th and 10th centuries. It was a central hub for the surrounding villages, offering social, economic and cultural services. Today, this is one of the most treasured monuments of the entire area. This beautiful place is still guarded by the original 5 meter high walls surrounding the estate.
Next to this historic settlement in Sędzinko, an amazing space has been created, built upon tradition, nature and dreams. Matecznik Grange is a place which encourages you to slowdown and spend time with those who are important to you, whilst enjoying the wonderful fresh air, far from the noise and hustle of our day to day lives. There are no TV sets here, we try not to use WiFi and the aim is for everyone to truly unwind and experience the beauty of the surrounding nature.
We invite you to experience all this and more. Start your day with the smell of fresh coffee, listen to the sound of the birds, feel the grass beneath your bare feet and gaze ata sky bedecked with millions of stars. We wait for you here.
Hope to see you soon.
Your place outside the city.
Put yourself in the hands of nature.
Here time flows differently.
